Ellie Paris

Ellie Paris is an artist currently based in the south west of the UK and a recent Photographic Art graduate from the University of South Wales, Newport.

Her work is an amalgamation of collage and storytelling through the use of found imagery. This online portfolio contains three projects spanning the latter part of her degree. Each exploration focuses on the use of collage and the reappropriation of found imagery. Past projects examine the threats created by surveillance, both personal and political. These include investigations into the anxiety disorder Scopophobia (the fear of being stared at) and the surreal world of Kim Jong Un’s North Korea.

Her most recent project (At Least We’re Not Irish) has delved into the personal history of her family with the key aim of discerning an identity from the muddled collection of anecdotes. The project was constructed using her family’s photographic archive spanning four generations of her maternal family. Through the use of these personal photographs and stories At Least We’re Not Irish solidifies a series of characters from the anecdotes and creates an ongoing, chaotic family narrative.
