Jesse Alexander is a photographer, writer and freelance lecturer based in North Somerset, UK. He studied at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design (Farnham) [University for the Creative Arts] and the University of Wales, Newport, graduating in 2008 with an MFA in Documentary Photography. Jesse’s practice examines the representation of space and the discourse of landscape art and its place within culture more broadly. Jesse has contributed criticism and commentary to publications including Hotshoe, Source, 1000 Words Photography and Photomonitor. He is the author of Perspectives on Place: Theory & Practice in Landscape Photography, which will be published by Bloomsbury in 2015 and edits the Perspectives on Place blog.
In addition to research projects Jesse undertakes commercial and editorial commissions, and has worked for leading publications, businesses and charitable organizations. Portfolios of this work can be found on his commercial site.
Jesse is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is currently Photography Curriculum Leader at the Open College of the Arts and Visiting Lecturer in Photography at the University of South Wales in Newport.
